How do I find a 2nd year MSPH field placement?

Students are connected with partner organizations and alumni networks to explore potential opportunities and pursue placements. Students have access to career coaching, networking events, and regularly shared job postings.

Does the 2nd year field placement need to be in Maryland?

No. Students can complete their 2nd year Field placements in any location.

Yes, the field placement can be completed through multiple experiences.

Can I work full- or part-time while earning an MSPH?

During year 1 of the MSPH in health policy program, students are engaged in full-time coursework, thus a full- time position is not feasible; however, part-time positions are encouraged.  In year 2 of the MSPH in health policy program, students typically complete their field placement through full-time employment; however, a full-time position is not required.

Is full-time work experience required for admission to the MSPH in Health Policy?

No, full-time work experience is not required for admission to the MSPH Program.  Some students enter with prior work experience; others apply directly after college.  We encourage applicants to use their personal statement to highlight their leadership potential and any relevant experiences (paid or unpaid) in public policy, public health, or related fields.

What happens if I am unable to secure a full-time employment position for the 2nd year field placement?

While many students complete their second-year field placement through full-time employment, it is not required. We provide individualized support to help each student identify meaningful opportunities that align with their goals and fulfill graduation requirements.
