Application Fee Waiver
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Fee Waiver Policy
Application fee waivers are available for applicants to the following graduate programs who meet additional eligibility criteria:
- Biostatistics - all degree programs
- Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) – PhD only
- Environmental Health Engineering (EHE) – PhD only
- Master of Applied Science (MAS) programs
- Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) - all degree programs
How to Request a Fee Waiver
The application fee waivers are available only to cover the primary application fee within the SOPHAS system; secondary application fee waivers are not available.
Applicants may request a 2026-2027 Application Fee Waiver by emailing Admissions Services with the subject line “SOPHAS Fee Waiver - <insert degree program name here>”.
Fee Waiver Deadline
Waivers must be submitted by November 15, 2025. Please note fee waivers must be issued before submitting your application. We cannot issue reimbursements for the application fee.
Eligibility
Application Fee Waivers are available for U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents.
Applicants are eligible for an application fee waiver for:
- Documented financial hardship
- Financial hardship is defined as earning less 225% the poverty level based on your household size or Pell Grant Eligibility. Documentation may include a financial award letter from the college you currently attend or a copy of FAFSA or Student Aid Report (SAR). Please redact all social security numbers and individual taxpayer identification numbers from the documentation before submitting
- or -
- Documentation from one of the following:
- U.S. Military service
- Eligibility for VTSI and application ready for submission to a BSPH VTSI-eligible PhD program
- Current enrollment as a Johns Hopkins University undergraduate student
