Biostatistics Student Groups
Student Groups
In addition to our excellent course offerings, the Biostatistics Department has three student-run clubs.
Biostatistics Education & Student Training (BEST) Seminar Series
Biostatistics Education & Student Training (BEST) Seminar Series (formerly called Computing/Journal Club) is a student-run seminar that meets on Wednesdays at 12:05 p.m., however the schedule is not regular due to speaker availability. Each meeting, they hear from students and postdocs who present computation-related topics or their current research. Lunch is served.
Biostatistics Student Organization (BSO)
The Biostatistics Student Organization (BSO) aims to facilitate student-to-student and student-to-faculty communication and advocate for student needs. They meet on an as-needed basis within committees or across groups to discuss student concerns, activities, and other initiatives.
Statistics in the Community (STATCOM)
STATCOM is a community outreach initiative led by graduate students from the Department of Biostatistics. The program provides pro bono statistical consulting to nonprofit, governmental, and community-based organizations, offering support in data organization, analysis, and interpretation.
