Dean Goodermote’s interests are in public health, music and software development. He has founded or led early-stage software companies, two through the initial public offering process, in diverse areas such as clinical trials, music creation, disaster recovery and plant operations. He has been a director on public, private and non-profit boards. He is an Emeritus member of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Advisory Board and the Founding Chair of that School’s Center for Humanitarian Health Advisory Committee. He and his wife, Diane Arnold, established the Johns Hopkins Goodermote Humanitarian Award honoring those who bring attention to and serve people in crisis.
He currently Chairs the Southern Sudan Healthcare Organization. He is a former Trustee of the Berklee College of Music and is currently on its Presidential Advisory Committee among other committees. He is a musician and band leader and a board director of Spruce Peak Arts, a Vermont theater. He is a Trustee Emeritus of the New England Aquarium and former Chair of its Mission Committee, a former official with the US Ski and Snowboard Association, and former Professor of Entrepreneurship at the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany. He is active in alpine and equestrian sports.
