Welch Center Grand Rounds

WEDNESDAYS, AUGUST-MAY, 12:00 - 1:15 PM

Register 2025-2026 SCHEDULE RECORDINGS

Welch Center Grand Rounds is where ideas, expertise and fresh research come together every week. Faculty and guest scientists share exciting work — whether it’s underway, about to launch or recently completed — in epidemiology, clinical research and translational science. The series is open to everyone in the Johns Hopkins community and regularly draws faculty, trainees and staff from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, along with guest speakers from beyond Hopkins.

We kick things off with a Research Pearl — a quick, 5-minute spotlight on a tool, resource or method that others have found helpful in their work. Think data services, library tools, research cores, informatics — you might discover just the thing you’ve been looking for to make your own research run smoother.

Then we dive into the main presentation, sparking lively, cross-disciplinary conversations that connect specialties, share innovative ideas and push the boundaries of patient-oriented research. Join us in person in the 2024 E. Monument St. building's Powe Room (1-500Q) or on Zoom. Be part of a community that’s shaping the future of clinical epidemiology!

Master’s and doctoral students in the clinical and cardiovascular epidemiology concentrations are expected to attend.

Welch Center Research Seminars

MONDAYS, SEPTEMBER THROUGH MAY, NOON - 1:20 P.M.

Noon-12:15 p.m.- Informal Gathering Over Lunch (Attendees are invited to bring their lunch)
12:15-1:20 p.m.- Research Seminar

Attendees can expect one of three seminars — Journal Club, Research in Progress (RIP), or Professional Development. Seminars meet in the Powe Room (1-500Q) or Whelton Room (2-603) in the 2024 E. Monument Street building

We encourage trainees, faculty, and staff to stay connected, engaged and informed by attending this weekly meeting. Master's and doctoral students in the Cardiovascular and Clinical Epidemiology Tracks are required to attend (course number: 340.871).

Each week, articles with a clinical epidemiology focus are selected by different presenters. Both students and faculty members participate in leading discussions of the papers. Often, the Welch Center Research Seminars becomes a forum for the discussion of the appropriate use of statistical analytic methods for various study designs.
