          Focuses on principles of strategic management and competitive analysis to support strategy development for health care organizations. Provides an understanding of how current business and management knowledge is applied to healthcare organizations to promote future success and competitive advantage. Teaches to assess and develop an organization's mission and vision by examining contemporary theory and models, performing an internal and external strategic assessment, evaluating competitive threats and responses, developing organizational strategies and measures of success, and evaluating the decision-making approaches best able to develop and execute the best strategies.
      
  Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
          - Develop a strategic plan for an organization, including: Performing a situational assessment and competitive analysis; developing strategic options; and assessing and making strategic choices
 - Recognize – and avoid – the pitfalls of traditional strategic planning processes
 - Recognize – and use – appropriate decision-making tools for creating and implementing strategies
