Nexus Event Series 2025

In the spring of 2025, CMAP hosted three events in Washington, D.C., under the title Advancing Mental & Addiction Policy Solutions in 2025. Check out the link below to learn more!

Work-In-Progress/Book Club Series

Each semester, the CMAP community gathers monthly for a series alternating between a work-in-progress (WIP) presentation and a book club discussion. Lunch is provided for in-person attendees.

  • Where: In-person at 1812 Ashland Ave and Zoom* 

  • When: Monthly on Tuesdays from 12p-1p 

Work-In-Progress: 

These sessions offer a supportive space for students and faculty to present projects they’re currently working on. Attendees provide constructive feedback, fostering collaboration and idea-sharing across the CMAP community. 

Book Club: 

Dive into thought-provoking discussions on books exploring mental health and addiction. Each session spotlights a new title selected by CMAP community members, encouraging a shared exploration of key themes and perspectives. 

*Please note: Book Club sessions are held in person only and will not be available via Zoom.

Continuing his collaboration with The Lancet Psychiatry Commission on Transforming Mental Health Implementation Research, Center Director, Dr. Matt Eisenberg will feature as a panelist at an upcoming online symposium: "Hearts and minds: How stories and data impact decision-making in mental health."

April 24, 2025: Research Seminar by Jacob Jorem (Seminar)

Jacob Jorem, JD, MD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, Department of Health Care Policy. He is a Commonwealth Fund Funded Harkness Fellow and presented: “From Law to Practice: Exploring the Effective Implementation of Legislative Amendments in Mental Health Care.”

April 17, 2025: Research Seminar by Emily Johnson (Seminar)

Emily Johnson, MS, is a PhD Student at the Danish Centre for Health Economics. Emily is a Visiting Scholar at the Bloomberg School of Public Health in Spring 2026 and is collaborating with some CMAP members in anticipation. Emily shared her in-progress dissertation work, titled “Health shocks and income loss in Denmark: Comparing mental and physical disorders.”

March 10, 2025: Collaborate Now! How to Expand the Impact of Your Expertise in Policy and Practice (Workshop)

Adam Levine, PhD, MA, president and co-founder of research4impact, hosted a workshop for CMAP faculty and trainees titled "Collaborate Now! How to Expand the Impact of Your Expertise in Policy and Practice." Workshop participants left with practical guidance and tools on how to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders in policy and practice.

February 6, 2025: What do we mean by evidence? (Symposium)

Center Directer, Dr. Matthew Eisenberg, featured as a panelist at an the online symposium:“What do we mean by evidence? How choosing the right methods can improve the real-world relevance of mental health research,” hosted by the International Alliance of Mental Health Research Funders (IAMHR), in collaboration with The Lancet Psychiatry.
