Charles D. Flagle Fund

The Charles D. Flagle Award was established in 1994 by alumni, colleagues, and friends of Charles Flagle, DrEng, in honor of his long dedication to teaching and health services research. The late Dr. Flagle, Professor Emeritus of Health Policy and Management, served on the faculty of the School for more than 30 years. From 1967 to 1968, he served as special assistant to the U.S. Surgeon General for Applied Health Technology, and in 1978 was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Flagleā€™s work related to technological advances and their translation into clinical services and improved public health. This fund supports a doctoral student from the Department of Health Policy and Management, whose work is in the area of health services research, including technology assessment and medical informatics.
Eligibility
Continuing Health Policy and Management PhD or DrPH (HPM concentration) students in good academic standing, who have passed or will have passed the school-wide preliminary oral exam by March 18, 2018 and whose research examines the social, economic, and health consequences of the application of new technologies to health services, are eligible to apply for this award. Previous Flagle award recipients are not eligible.
