Monitoring Childhood Immunization at the State Level

The International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has developed a series of State-Level Immunization Monitoring Briefs displaying tailored information on the extent to which children are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases across the United States. The aim of this activity is to build and sustain policy commitment for the value of childhood vaccination at the state level.

These resources focus on non-seasonal vaccines recommended to all U.S. children, with briefs developed for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We hope that the data contained in these briefs will be shared with policymakers to inform immunization decision-making.

Measles outbreaks have been reported in multiple states, highlighting the importance of measles vaccination and rapid detection and reporting of suspected and confirmed measles cases. The U.S. Measles Tracker maps confirmed measles cases at the county level and is updated regularly.
