This course is only open to OPAL students in the MAS or certificate program in Spatial Analysis for Public Health. Students must discuss course option with Program Directors prior to enrolling.
Provides students with additional work in the statistical software package R and its use for the statistical analysis of public health datasets, to supplement work in course 600.710.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Explore and prepare datasets using base R and/or tidyverse workflows
- Create data visualizations in R, including histograms and boxplots
- Summarize and tabulate data in R, computing relevant descriptive statistics
- Estimate population parameters and associations in R, including calculation of 95% confidence intervals
- Conduct statistical hypothesis tests in R and interpret the associated p-values
