Associate Professor Carsten Prasse Honored as a Rising Star in Environmental Research

The American Chemical Society recognized outstanding early-career researchers for 2024.

The American Chemical Society has recognized Carsten Prasse, associate professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering, as a 2024 Rising Star in Environmental Research.

"It's an honor to be part of this group of talented, early-career researchers whose work I greatly respect," said Prasse. 

Prasse's Rising Stars article is titled “Solid-Phase Reactivity-Directed Extraction (SPREx): An Alternative Approach for Simultaneous Extraction, Identification, and Prioritization of Toxic Electrophiles Produced in Water Treatment Applications.” 

"Our assay aims to address challenges associated with prioritization and identification of toxic water treatment byproducts in complex environmental mixtures," he said.
