Bloomberg School to Award Dean’s Medal to Barney Graham, MD, PhD

I am delighted to announce that Barney Graham, MD, PhD, will be honored with the Dean’s Medal at the Vaccine Day Symposium next month.
The Dean’s Medal is the School’s highest honor, reserved for outstanding public health researchers and practitioners who demonstrate exceptional leadership in their fields in safeguarding and improving the public’s health.
Dr. Graham is the former deputy director of the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He is an accomplished physician-scientist and inspirational mentor whose leadership and vision in applying structural biology to vaccine design has led to breakthroughs in the development of respiratory syncytial virus vaccines and RSV monoclonal antibodies and to the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Graham will be presented with the Dean’s Medal on Tuesday, November 16, at the Vaccine Day Symposium from noon to 1:30 p.m. EST, co-hosted by the Office of the Dean and the Johns Hopkins Vaccine Initiative. His keynote address, "Rapid COVID-19 Vaccine Development and the Future of Vaccinology," will be followed by a panel discussion.
