New Public Health Students Explore Baltimore
Explore Baltimore: New Student Orientation at the Bloomberg School

As part of new student orientation, each year the Admissions office coordinates Explore Baltimore—walking and public transit tours of different Baltimore neighborhoods.
On Friday, August 25, groups of new students trekked by foot, metro or bus to areas including Canton and Patterson Park, Charles Village, Mount Vernon and Station North, the Inner Harbor and East Baltimore. Current students led the tours, pointing out their favorite spots and sharing insider information about everything from parking and bike trails to trivia nights. For some new students, especially those moving internationally, Explore Baltimore was the first opportunity to venture out into their new city.
Avid sports fan Elizabeth Abrams (left, above photo), an MSPH student in International Health from Columbus, Ohio, said she’s excited for baseball and football. Although her heart belongs to the Indianapolis Colts, she’s looking forward to seeing some games in M&T Bank Stadium and Camden Yards. (Tip: students get a discount on tickets!)
Sally Yan (right, above photo), also an MSPH student in International Health, is originally from Okemos, Michigan, but until recently had been living in South Dakota. She’s eager to live in an urban area and loves Baltimore’s old buildings and row homes. She also said she can envision staying in the Baltimore area.
