World Malaria Day was established as a time for examining global efforts to control malaria with a goal of achieving zero malaria deaths by 2015. In recognition of World Malaria Day, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute will host a day-long panel discussion exploring the plausibility of malaria elimination and eradication. The event will be held in Sommer Hall beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Every year malaria afflicts 225 million people worldwide and kills nearly 800,000, many of whom are children living in Africa.
