As Congress debates extending political and economic sanctions against Burma’s military regime, a new report from the University of California, Berkeley, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health documents how decades of repressive rule, civil war and poor governance have contributed to the spread of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other infectious diseases in Burma.

The report was produced by the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley and the Center for Health and Human Rights at the Bloomberg School of Public Health with support from the Open Society Institute and the Sandler Family Supporting Foundation.
