Jewelry-Making Program Empowers Participants, Reduces HIV Risk

Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have found a new way to address HIV and sexual risk taking among drug-using women involved in prostitution. The Jewelry Education for Women Empowering their Lives (JEWEL) program introduced 55 drug-using women to HIV risk prevention and the making, marketing and selling of beaded jewelry.

Zinc Supplements Safe for HIV-Infected Children

Zinc-deficient children living in communities where they do not receive adequate amounts of zinc from their diet should be given supplements, even if they are HIV-infected, according to researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and other institutions.

The Bloomberg School requires all media guests–including print and electronic reporters, photographers, producers, and videographers–to coordinate with a Bloomberg School media representative in advance of their visit, ideally with 48-hours notice. This applies to all School-affiliated buildings, offices, and facilities.
