The Center at the SVRI Forum '24
Center-affiliated faculty, and staff, alongside global scholars and partners, convened at the SVRI ’24 Forum in Cape Town, South Africa for the four-day global conference where several Center affiliates presented on a range of topics.
Presentations, posters, and participant-driven events by Center faculty and affiliates included help-seeking behavior among IPV victims, reproductive coercion on contraceptive dynamics, the prevalence of non-partnered sexual violence among in-school girls, couples' interventions, and more.
The SVRI ’24 Forum venue and platform allowed all to connect and network with global practitioners, scholars, and policy-makers. With its own booth at the Forum, the affiliates, and faculty spotlighted the activities, priority areas, and successes of the Center on a global stage.
During the SVRI ’24 Forum week, the Center organized and hosted side events and workshops, one of which was a welcome reception for all affiliates, including Johns Hopkins University alumni attending the Forum. The reception presented the opportunity to network and connect, and more importantly to introduce our inaugural Gender Equity/GBV Evidence Accelerator cohort—a diverse group of practitioners, professionals, and scholars enrolled in a year-long fellowship in gender equity and GBV—to faculty, staff, affiliates, and friends of the Center.
The Center also held a closed-door half-day workshop for Center GBV/GE Evidence Accelerator Scholars to present their mini projects to JHU faculty mentors.
SVRI ’24 Forum was a unique opportunity for all who attended and for the Center to expand our networks, support our GBV/GE Evidence Accelerator cohort, and connect with hundreds of global and local practitioners, researchers, and policy-makers making tremendous impact in the field.
