Inaugural Global Digital Health Summit Brings Prominent Digital Health Experts To Campus

Johns Hopkins University’s first-ever Global Digital Health Summit convenes on March 27-28, 2024, a conference focused on sharing the latest developments and initiatives in global digital health. Over two days of lectures, panel discussions, and networking events, participants will learn from and connect with over 20 prominent digital health leaders from across the globe. Speakers hail from many influential organizations, including Africa CDC, USAID, PATH, and Jhpiego, among many others. Dr. Marcelo D’Agostino, Unit Chief of Information Systems and Digital Health at Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), will deliver the keynote address.  

While six student groups from the Bloomberg School of Public Health organized the Summit, CGDHI’s student professional association, the Digital Health Society (DHS), led the collaboration. Inspired by their December 2023 participation in global digital health’s premier annual event, Global Digital Health Forum, DHS students wished to create their own conference that could be shared with the Johns Hopkins community and beyond. With support from CGDHI, they took the initiative to connect with digital health experts and design conference sessions.  

Session topics include strategies for scaling up digital health initiatives, the impact of digital solutions on patient care, and regional digital health developments in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Sessions that explore digital health career development and experts’ paths to leadership reflect the student organizers’ eyes on the future.  

Sponsored by CGDHI and BSPH Student Assembly, this inaugural event was organized by the university’s Digital Health Society, Latino Public Health Network, African Public Health Network, Asia Pacific Public Health Network, JB Grant Society, and Anna Baetjer Society.
